|    Bug#1127620: Inappropriate warning    |
|    10 Feb 26 16:40:01    |
From: aerusso@aerusso.net              Package: python3-cloudflare       Version: 2.20.0-1       Severity: normal              Dear Maintainer,              After upgrading to 2.20.0, instantiating a CloudFlare       object creates a significant, noisy warning:              !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WARNING !!!!!!!!       !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!       !! You're seeing this warning because you've upgraded the Python package       'cloudflare' to version !!       !! 2.20.* via an automated upgrade without version pinning. Version 2.20.0       exists to catch any !!       !! of these upgrades before Cloudflare releases a new major release under the       release number 3.x. !!       !                                                                                                                                      !!       !! Should you determine that you need to revert this upgrade and pin to       v2.19.* it is recommended !!       !! you do the following: pip install --upgrade cloudflare==2.19.* or       equivilant. !!       !                                                                                                                                      !!       !! Or you can upgrade to v3.x. NOTE: Release 3.x will not be code-compatible       or call-compatible !!       !! with previous releases. To see more about upgrading to next major version,       please see: !!       !! https://github.com/cloudflare/python-cloudflare/discussions/1       1 !!       !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!       !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!              While it is true that the 2.x branch of cloudflare is deprecated, this prose       does not quite capture       the problem in Debian. It suggests that the user committed an error in       upgrading their Debian       packages, rather than holding one of them. It also recommends a solution       (using pip) that is plainly       wrong.              At a minimum, the prose in this message should be modified to explain that (1)       CloudFlare 2.x is       deprecated upstream, and (2) Debian has not packaged it yet. Perhaps other       content like "2.x still       works fine" can be added. Alternatively, the message might be squelched       entirely if the maintainer       believes 2.x will work fine for the foreseeable future.                     Best,       Antonio Russo              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
