   I used mmdebstrap to boostrap an up to date Hurd and found that it does    
   not write to /var/log/lastlog nor to /var/log/btmp but there is a    
   logwtmp() call here:

   @Samuel: Do you have more context if /var/log/lastlog and /var/log/btmp    
   are still in use on Hurd?
