Deuce (in #synchronet at irc.synchro.net) has been playing with detecting X
Window managers or server (Wayland?) where the the clipboard behavior is not
as expected. He could use more details on your system configuration.

X11 output mode is normally preferrable to SDL mode, but this clipboard issue
has been stickler.
e.g. this commit to have the clipboard function as expected when used on
Chrome OS:
