From QRZ.Com, the Icom handout, and Part 97 Of The FCC Rules -
Ham Radio Glossary - An overview of amateur radio terms.

Talk-Around
Same as "Simplex".

Talk-In
A frequency for use at hamfests or other events, to direct those coming
from out of the area to the exact location of the event.

TCXO
Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator. Heated crystal oscillator
for better frequency stability.

Technician
The current entry level of U.S. Amateur Radio license, it allows all
amateur radio privilges above 50 Mhz, plus limited CW privileges on
80, 40 and 15 meters...plus CW, RTTY, and data (PSK31, etc.) privileges
from 28.0 to 28.3 Mhz...and SSB Phone from 28.3 to 28.5 Mhz on 10 meters.
Technician Class licensees also can use the VoIP (Voice Over Internet
Protocol) modes of Echolink (www.echolink.org) and IRLP (www.irlp.net).

Technician Plus
"Technician Plus" licensees were originally Technician Class licensees
who had passed the 5 words per minute Morse Code exam requirement.
However, as of Feb. 23, 2007, the Morse Code exam requirement was removed,
with "Technician Plus" licensees now having the same privileges as
Technician Class licensees. This term is no longer used as an official
class of U.S. amateur radio license. See also "Technician".

Telecommand
A one-way transmission to initiate, modify, or terminate functions of a
device at a distance.

Telecommand station
An amateur station that transmits communications to initiate, modify, or
terminate functions of a space station.

Telemetry
A one-way transmission of measurements at a distance from the measuring
instrument.

Terminal Node Controller

1. A "modem" for amateur radio, which is used for "packet" and "APRS".
Also known as a TNC.

2. A type of antenna connector.

Third-party communications
A message from the control operator (first party) of an amateur station to
another amateur station control operator (second party) on behalf of
another person (third party).

Third party traffic
Where someone who is not currently an amateur radio licensee, may operate,
under the supervision of an amateur radio licensee. The amateur radio
licensee must immediately terminate communications, should a FCC rules
violation occur. Prior amateur radio service licensees whose licenses
have been suspended, revoked, surrendered for cancellation, or are the
subject of a "cease and desist" order may NOT operate as "third party
traffic".

Ticket
Slang for "FCC License".

Time Out Timer
Time limiting function for continued repeater, or other operations.
By FCC Rules, most repeaters will "shut down" after 3 minutes of
continuous transmit, to avoid burning out the components in the
repeater. Continuous usage may also prevent a station with a
legitimate emergency situation from transmitting their distress call.

TNC
See "Terminal Node Controller".

TOT
See Time Out Timer.

Transistor
See "P-N Junction".

TS
Tuning Step. Incremental steps of changing frequency (5 khz, 10 khz, etc.).

TSQL
Tone Squench
Squelch function using sub-audible tones, selective call.

TVI
Television Interference.

TX
Abbreviation for "transmitter" or "transmit"
