It's more of a problem for the text files that are also used to create the
nodelist, like the epilog and prolog. If they are not stripped from those, you
get BOM's in de comment sections, this is not how it should be, but probably
doesn't hurt the nodelist processing.

As Kees also explained it would probably create all kinds of problems if they
are in the segment files the nodelist is created from, so that's where you are
right also, that problems with the CRC could arrise...
