Smarmy one liner followed by someone else's words. You never disappoint. RS> Professional Idiot Glenn Beck Equates Veterans with Communists RS> by Bill Bradley November 17, 2010, 5:28 PM When the article starts with a personal attack, it's obvious the author has no real facts to offer. RS> Yesterday, an Iraq veteran named Denise called in to The Glenn Beck RS> Program to complain about the fun she had on Veterans Day. Denise, who RS> returned from Iraq two years ago, walked with Iraq and Afghanistan RS> Veterans for America (I.A.V.A.) in last Thursday's parade in New York RS> City and then attended a soiree at The Providence, in Midtown Manhattan, RS> where she encountered "a spread like you wouldn't believe." RS> Personally, I think all our veterans deserve this treatment (in addition RS> to the free Bloomin' Onion and pint they're offered at Outback RS> Steakhouse). But Denise found herself questioning I.A.V.A.'s motives. RS> "Where did they get the money for all this? It was unbelievable how they RS> treated us that day," she said. So she took to the Internet, where she RS> claims she found out that the I.A.V.A.--America's largest nonprofit, RS> nonpartisan organization for veterans of the wars of the past decade--is RS> supported by George Soros and MoveOn.org. "George Soros has his hand in RS> the military," Denise told Beck, who was only too happy for the RS> opportunity to take a few whacks at one of his favorite punching bags. RS> "What [liberal donors such as Soros are] doing is, they're creating the RS> misery, and they're coming out and organizing all these people--under the RS> guise of labor unions or something as innocuous sounding as, you know, RS> Iraqi [sic] and Afghanistan Veterans Foundation [sic]--but it is Soros RS> and Communist and radical money and they are tying and duping people in RS> as much as they can," Beck said, referring to an organization whose RS> activities include lobbying for veterans policy on Capitol Hill, giving RS> away N.F.L. and concert tickets to veterans, and working to improve RS> mental health. RS> I called up I.A.V.A.'s executive director and founder, Paul RS> Rieckhoff--who served as a first lieutenant in Iraq from 2003-2004--to see RS> if the supporters of I.A.V.A. are really as Communist as Glenn Beck says RS> they are. "The I.A.V.A. receives no money from MoveOn.org," he told me. RS> "We're happy to take MoveOn's money if they'll send it, and we're happy RS> to take Fox News's money if they'll send it, too. Veterans affairs RS> shouldn't be a partisan issue. It's all about Americans uniting behind RS> our veterans." As for the "spread like you wouldn't believe" after the RS> parade? Rieckhoff explained that it had been sponsored by Microsoft and RS> Health Net. RS> http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2010/11/professional-idiot-glenn- RS> beck-equates-veterans-with-communists.html Interestingly, there is no evidence shown in this entire article where Beck equated IAVA or any veterans with communists. If you listen to the entire exchange between Glenn and his caller, neither she or he made any comments about IAVA or any veterans being communists. Beck's entire point was how people like Soros and MO.o will donate to otherwise well-meaning organizations in an attempt to influence them to their own ends. Whether IAVA is influenced by their donors is yet to be investigated. It's hilarious how you will watch some idiot like Maddow or Olbermann and/or read some nonsense on MMfA or PuffHo and then repeat it as if it were the absolute truth. Your silly claim that these morons use "real facts" to back up their claims is laughable when all the facts are shown.
