They would be if you are used to using white for everything  
else most of the time.

But the shade of blue looks very classy on the Blackberry. And  
the light shade for the text makes if very comfortable to read  
in a low-light environment.

Even my OpenXP is black background and cyan text. When I need  
to use email the typical setting is blacktext on white - and I  
find that I need to reduce the screen brightness at those  
times.
