It's a commercial real-time unix-like OS intended for embedded  
systems: eg,  automobiles, smartphones, industrial controls,  
etc.

Developed in Canada!  A few guys from Waterloo University  
started up the company.  I think the product had its beginnings  
in Blackberry devices. The Blackberry was developed by Research  
in Motion, in a building that was a few hundred meters from  
Canadian Marconi were I was working. Hopping over to Research  
in Motion seemed very tempting at one time.
