XPost: can.politics, ont.politics       From: ConsRCons@govt.cda              Remember the call from a Liberal leader: "Rise up, rise up, rise up       Canada, RISE UP!" ?              Time is now. The right wing is scrambling to get its feet under it.       Better not to trust them getting back up . . . .       _________________________________              THE GAZETTE - November 15, 2013                     Protesters greet Stephen Harper at Montreal speech                     MONTREAL — A protest against Conservative government policies outside       the venue where Prime Minister Stephen Harper was giving a lunch-time       speech dissipated shortly after it was declared illegal by Montreal police.              About 150 people gathered outside Montreal’s Palais des congrès just       before noon Friday.              Protester Jaggi Singh listed grievances against Harper on a megaphone       for the crowd, including the government’s neglect of native communities,       cuts to social programs and development of oil sands projects to the       detriment of the environment.              Dozens of police officers in fluorescent yellow vests stood nearby       watching as protesters sang and chanted anti-capitalist and anti-Harper       songs and slogans.              When the group began marching, Montreal police declared it illegal since       organizers had not filed their route plan in advance as required under       controversial city bylaw P-6.              Past demonstrations against the bylaw, which also outlaws the wearing of       masks, have led to scuffles and arrests.              In this case protesters left and no arrests were made.              Harper was speaking to the Montreal Board of Trade.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
