   We could ALL make our own puny sacrifices and impact very little with   
   regards the environment.   
   However, if the tarsands had their expansion stopped, their current   
   extraction processes heavily monitored and the damage curtailed and   
   remedied immediately, that 'inconvenience' could be limited to the   
   companies at the source of the problem - and not to the users of their   
   protected dirty resources.
