Police carry firearms for personal protection on the job every day. If
police find them useful for personal safety then the same logic applies
to farmers repelling rogue snowmobilers. Crazy people who commit murder
with guns, knives, rocks, vehicles, claw hammers etc should go to prison
and stay there because they committed a violent crime. The biggest
murder in Canadian history was Air India Flight 182 yet nobody has
   suggested banning Sikhs or airplanes
