   Vancouver traffic stop leads to huge weapons haul   
   Police recover 1 rifle, 2 handguns, 3 shotguns, 3 assault rifles and 1   
   replica Uzi   
      
      
   Vancouver police say a routine traffic stop turned into anything but,   
   after officers first found loaded handguns strapped to a driver's body,   
   and later discovered two larger caches of firearms.   
      
   The 45-year-old driver was pulled over near Hastings and Thurlow streets   
   late Saturday night for a traffic violation, police said.   
      
   But officers noticed he was sweating profusely, and appeared extremely   
   nervous when they spoke with him.   
      
   "Officers also noticed a strap protruding from under his jacket, and   
   unusual bulges under both arms," the Vancouver Police Department said in   
   a written statement.   
      
   The bulges turned out to be two loaded handguns in shoulder holsters.   
   Police also found a rifle and a shotgun in the vehicle.   
      
   The VPD gang unit was called and began a search in an apartment in the   
   city's West End.   
      
   "In the apartment, police located two shotguns, three assault-style   
   rifles and a replica Uzi," the VPD said.   
      
   The 45-year-old man has been charged with multiple firearms offences,   
   and was held in custody until this morning's court appearance.
