For me, I can discern a very noticable difference between 192kbps and CD. 320kbps comes close to indestinquishable, but the bass is still a bit boomier and the highs have an obvious "edgyness" that is not pleasant for long passages. All that is for home-based listening with open-air speakers. 320kbps would be the minimum I would prefer on the car stereo for music.
