When I first heard Knopfler's song my first reaction was "gee,  
that sounds familiar".  Took several plays to finally retrieve  
the Shock The Monkey lyric from the dark recesses of my brain  
and realize THAT's IT!  ..albiet a slower and rather cool  
version too.

You don't hear the similarity?  It's the main, constant melody  
that's the same.
