I grew up in NYC and it is now a shit hole. It doesn't get the press of SF or
Portland but it's
just as bad. Boarded up commercial property in Manhattan, homeless all over
the place, gangs
running wild randomly attacking people, smash and grab in stores etc.
All due to liberals and defund the police, cashless bail etc.
Ride the subway and you take your life in your hands.
It's really in the boroughs that the prices are insane.
Take Brooklyn for example. It was always a melting pot that was affordable but
now you have trust
fund babies and Asians with a LOT of cash (CCP?) moving in.
Two family houses in Sunset Park or Bay Ridge that sold for $13k in 1960 are
now selling in the
millions.
And there are plenty of buyers fighting for them.
But they are foreigners. What happened in Manhattan in the 80's with China and
Japan buying up
properties has now moved to the other boroughs like Brooklyn, Queens etc.
Regular working people can't afford these at all.
Go on Zillow or Redfin and look at what properties in Sunset Park are selling
for.
It's insane.
