   Back in the 1980's I was on a plane seated near the rear exit, not next to it,   
   but in the seats   
   across from it. After the plane took off and was still climbing I felt a huge   
   draft from the door.   
   When I looked at the door,  it appeared the door was not totally flush with   
   the fuselage and not   
   fully closed.   
      
   I stumbled up to the front of the plane where the stewardess were sitting in   
   the jump seats. And   
   promptly got yelled at for leaving my seat during ascent. I finally screamed   
   at them and told them,   
   "you don't understand, there is a door that is not fully closed". They told me   
   it's impossible   
   because the captain would receive a warning light. I replied, well maybe the   
   warning system is   
   defective, why not come and look. Finally one of them did and upon seeing the   
   door yelled OMG!!! We   
   returned to the airport, switched planes and I got a first class upgrade, no   
   charge.   
      
   These days, I rufuse to get on a plane.
