   An off-duty Customs and Border Patrol officer was shot in the face on   
   Friday night in Fort Washington Park in Manhattan at about 11:50 p.m.   
      
   He was sitting on a rock by the Hudson River with a female companion   
   when he was approached by two men on a moped in what is suspected to be   
   an attempted robbery. One of the men then allegedly fired at the   
   officer, hitting him in the face and the arm. The officer then fired   
   back, wounding the suspect.   
      
   That suspect then went to a hospital, where he was taken into custody.   
   The second suspect is still at large. The officer is in stable condition.   
      
   The Department of Homeland Security made a statement saying it looked   
   like an attempted robbery and that "one of the alleged perpetrators was   
   an illegal alien with prior arrests for felony 2nd and 3rd degree   
   assault and an order of deportation."   
      
      
   But there's even more, and it isn't good. Fox News' Bill Melugin reports   
   that the suspect in custody had been previously deported and had an   
   active criminal warrant in Massachusetts for kidnapping.   
      
      
   DHS posted a video of the encounter.   
      
      
   DHS claims the suspect re-entered and was released under Joe Biden in   
   April 2023.   
      
   What an example of the failure of Joe Biden and the Democrats.   
      
   Meanwhile, all we get from Democrats on this issue is gas and shameful   
   demonizing of federal agents. The border was completely out of control   
   under Joe Biden. All we needed was a new president. And now that the new   
   president is rectifying Biden's errors, the Democrats just can't deal.   
   They're doing all they can to throw a wrench into Trump's efforts.   
      
   President Donald Trump has had great success stopping illegal   
   immigration at the border, with numbers of illegal border crossings   
   dropping to record lows.   
      
   There are still many illegal aliens here that Joe Biden let come across   
   the border. That's why Trump and his team have been so focused on the   
   issue of ramping up deportations. The Democrats seem to think it's wrong   
   to enforce the law.

   Democrats should be supporting these actions, but I guess they want to   
   stay at 19 percent approval or go even lower. And every time there's an   
   incident like this, it just reminds everyone how important it is to keep   
   them out of power to reduce the chances of such things happening.
