   VAN NEST, Bronx (WABC) -- A Bronx basketball coach and gym teacher is   
   under arrest and charged with raping one of his students.   
      
   Jayvone Johnson, 34, previously taught gym and coached basketball at   
   Icahn Charter School 2 in the Bronx.   
      
   He is charged with raping a 14-year-old female student on Dec. 23, 2024.   
      
   According to court documents, he took the 14-year-old to a motel in the   
   Bronx called Jet Set Hotel. Police said it was there at 3 p.m. after   
   school that he allegedly committed the crime.   
      
   Johnson was arrested last month and charged with rape, sexual   
   misconduct, sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.   
      
   He was released on his own recognizance.   
      
   Johnson is no longer employed by the school.   
      
   "This is a very reputable school and I've always felt that my child is   
   safe here, but as you know, you can't always tell who is coming in, but   
   I am glad that they immediately dismissed him and they took appropriate   
   action," said parent Andre Weekes.   
      
   The NYPD released his picture to encourage other possible victims to   
   come forward.   
      
   Police are asking any other victims to calling the NYPD's Sex Crimes   
   Hotline at 1-212-267-RAPE (7273), the Crime Stoppers Hotline at   
   1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).   
      
   Eyewitness News reached out to the Bronx District Attorney's Office and   
   the charter school but we are still waiting to hear back.
