|    The Taking of Pelham 123    |

I have a confession to make:              I saw the 2011 version of "The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3" on Thursday evening.              (It was only a few minutes, though, I swear!)              The one thing that I noticed, are the overly dramatised sound effects.              For example, when they uncoupled the first car, the film editors added       such an effect, the type of which would never happen in reality.              The same happened when they cut the power to the trains, they added this       sound effect as if a very large generator was powering down. Just       ridiculous.              Command Center was also laughable as a high-tech centre, when in reality       it would not surprise me if very little has changed since the proper       film came out in 1974.              Lastly, what is it with Denzel Washington and bad railroad films?       Besides the above-described film, he was in "Unstoppable," another film       that was terrible and added a whole bunch of unnecessary effects and drama.              I respect Denzel Washington and a lot of his work, honestly I do, and I       understand that he is a good Shakespearean actor. But he and       railroad-themed films just don't go together -- kind of like sand and oil.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
