   The ruling blocking the Battery Bridge was political, not realistic, and   
   everyone knew it.  But the decision was final and Moses was stuck with a   
   tunnel.   He hated it for the rest of his career.  He did have a valid point   
   that tunnels cost much more to    
   build and operate than a bridge, although he ignored the devastation bridge   
   piers and approaches would've done to lower Manhattan.   
      
   Moses hated both FDR and Eleanor.  Eleanor told FDR to get rid of Mrs.   
   Moskowitz, Moses' mentor, when FDR took over as governor.
