   As long as you're not saying he's an asshole _because_ of his gender,   
   ethnicity, religion, age, martial status, sexual orientation, etc. then   
   that's allowable.  But again, you're not required by US law to provide   
   _any_ cause for firing someone, absent a contract otherwise.
