   The densitiy of development in those towns on top of the Pallisades was   
   fostered by a tremendous streetcar (now known as light rail) network   
   that existed back in the day.  North/south routes, plus several that   
   brought people to/from ferries via ramps carved into the stone and   
   others built of steel.
