I don't think there has been main line passenger traffic on SIRT for many,
   many years.

I'm pretty sure freight service on the SIRTOA operating side has been
discontinued and is now passenger-only. However, there may be freight on
   other parts of the line.

Years ago, there would be boxcars at St. George as well as at the S.I. Advance
   printing plant.

I suspect that the B&O lost a huge amount of money on SIRT. I don't think
freight traffic ever amounted to much, nor did it develop as an alternate
terminal for NYC (as intended). Then the B&O had to operate SIRT passenger
   trains, losing serious money
until the city finally took it over.

On my last visit to Staten Island, I found traffic on local streets rather
   congested.
