   Similar things have happened here in London. I knew of one cafe that had   
   operated for a while and had a pretty decent reputation. The landlord   
   suddenly sought a quadruple increase in the rent, pushing the business   
   out literally overnight.   
      
   Working men's pubs here in London that have been on site for generations   
   are becoming gentrified gastropubs filled with pseudo-intellectuals.
