   As I understand it, the system doesn't have zone based speed restrictions.   
   After the Spuyten Duyvel crash, MNRR work crews created workarounds in   
   signal boxes to act like slope timers, which will trigger emergency brakes   
   if disobeyed.   
      
   I was also told the signal systems in cab cars of the diesel train sets   
   lack some key features.   
      
   Or some combination of the two.
