   AFAIK it ended about 2 years ago.   
      
   Portland had a downtown "Fareless Square" from 1975 until January 2010   
   for buses and August 2012 for MAX light-rail and Portland Streetcar. I   
   used it from time to time.  All it did for me was to avoid validating   
   my transit pass.  When Tri-Met started to run out of money, the   
   project ended.
