From: Phil.Kane@nov.shmovz.ka.pop              Last week my wife who is an avid audiobook listener borrowed "The       Taking of Pelham 123" from our local library. I hadn't heard it since       the book itself came out in the 1970s and was read on a local NPR       station. I couldn't help comparing it to the film version which I       have always regarded as the "gold standard". My opinion hasn't       changed - the film adaptation was much better.              A brief run-through of Amazon and eBay shows that a new copy of that       audiobook is being offered for $165 (no, that's not a misprint) but       used copies that are library surplus can be had for about $10       including shipping. I'm sorely tempted to add it to my collection.                                   "Stand Clear of the Closing Doors, Please"              Phil Kane - Beaverton, OR       PNWR CP HALL MP 29.9 - OE District              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
