   1) How does this possibly have any connection to the subject line,   
   "The Russians"?

   original SOLARI with the flip letters; this one is electronic.   
   Further, departure boards have been added all around the terminal.   
      
   3) One objective is to expand boarding locations from beyond the   
   main hall.  Lots of people already unofficially board from the lower   
   concourse gates, even though that is supposedly the arrival area.   
      
   4) One screw-up by NJ Transit is that (a) its own sub-station within   
   Penna Sta is too damn small and (b) does not have all tracks NJT   
   uses.  Often NJT passenger have to run out and find an LIRR platform   
   (e.g. track 14) to board there train.
