   One of those bits of history I'm hoping someone, somewhere,   
   has an air check of:   
      
   Every so often WNBC would have a station ID saying roughly:   
      
   " WNBC radio, 660 AM, flagship station of the NBC   
   radio network. Fifty THOUSAND WATTS, CLEARRRRRRRRR Channel,   
   broadcasting fromthe heart of NYC"   
      
   ob nyc.transit: That "CLEARRRRRRRR" word was vocalized   
   in the same, extended, loud and proud, voice that   
   the Grand central and Penn Station stationmasters   
   would use with, after (in one breath...) saying   
   "woodside, forest hills, Jamica, [a half dozen others..],   
   Massapequa, Massapequa Park, Amityville, Lindenhurst,   
   and Babylon". "All Abooooorrrrrrrdddddddddd!"   
      
   Oh, and that "Clear Channel" had absoposuliteny NOTHING   
   to do with the later company of that name.
