Did FL-9s normally run under their own power or on the 3rd rail in the   
   Park Avenue tunnel?   
      
   I seem to remember that they run under their own power in the tunnel,   
   regardless of regulations.   
      
   The P32s run under 3rd rail, I know, and you can hear the engine   
   spooling up as the train approaches the portal.   
      
   On the Fl-9s, however, the engineer had to go into the engine room to   
   spool up. So, assuming that they ran on the 3rd rail, how did they   
   change over without having to come to a full stop somewhere?
