   The made-for-TV (must've been for cable, they bleeped some swears and "edited   
   for time and content") *Taking of Pelham 1-2-3* was on channel 11.3 Tuesday   
   night, so I watched the first half last night and the second half just now.   
      
   It's _really_ awful. The Toronto subway looks nothing like the New York subway.   
      
   Edward James Olmos got top billing, but he's no Walter Matthau.   
      
   The bad guys included a pre-*C.I.* Vincent d'Onofrio (standing tall, trying to   
   be   
   commanding, but at one point he'd clearly been waiting for the "Action!" call   
   before participating in the scene) and a pre-*West Wing* Richard Schiff.   
      
   The Denzel Washington version has to be an improvement.
