LIFE magazine, on googlebooks, has a ton of railroad advertisements
from the New York Central, Pennsylvania, Santa Fe,
   and Southern Pacific. Neat images.

On alternate weeks, the Bell System typically had an ad. During
the war years, they asked people NOT to make phone calls.
Immediately after the war, they pleaded for patience as they caught
up with a huge backlog of service orders. By the mid 1950s, they
   advertised new services.

Western Union had a few ads in their "it's wise to wire" series.

The old ads can tell more about the life and times of an era
   then the actual articles.

Another magazine on google books is Billboard. Years ago, it
focused on various entertainment--radio, records, emerging TV,
and county fairs. Lots of articles on vending machines.

It also has popular science and popular mechanics.

As always, there will be tests!
