   I have no direct knowledge, but I do know that in that era Hudson line   
   trains to Croton-Harmon used EMUs, and those to points north changed   
   engines there.  The Putnam wasn't electrified, and it's hard to see   
   how there'd be room for an engine yard in the crowded tracks in   
   the Bronx.  These days they use dual mode locos, no change needed.

   Hard to see how that would make sense.  The line went to Brewster   
   where it met the Harlem.  How would it save any money to run trains   
   only on part of it?
