Last March (a year ago), I took Megabus to Pittsburgh ($40 round trip,
IIRC). It was not unpleasant; about 8 hr, with a half-hour lunch break
at an old-fashioned truck stop. Electrical outlets, and room enough to
open my laptop, so I watched a movie. The only passenger stop was in State
College, location of Penn State University but also where you'd change
for the bus to Chicago. (My plane trip to Chicago this March was so
unpleasant, and so expensive, that I'm seriously considering the Megabus
the next time I have to go there, even though the one time I took Amtrak
-- coach seat -- it was intolerable. [in 1974 I'd shared a sleeper and
that wasn't bad, but sleepers now cost far more than the airplane.] I
hadn't been on a domestic flight in nearly 10 years. Previously when I
had a meeting in Pittsburgh I took the train, but the schedule of the
one train a day had changed so it wouldn't work out.)
