Certain IRT trains are enabled with tripcocks so as to be able
to operate on the BMT-IND for equipment moves. Due to size,
they never carry passengers in normal service. In certain
special excursions they might, but there is a crewman with
a board to bridge the platform gap.

During City Hall station tours, they use a board.
