I still love the 18 colors of the Vignelli Map -- and they still use
it for special occasions, and for the Weekender. I went up to the
top of the Second Avenue line a week or so after it opened and asked
the token booth [sid] guy for a map -- and he gave me the souvenir
map (which has no date on the outside, since they really didn't know
whether it would open on January 1) -- which is a Vignelli! And the
special SuperBowl (or was it Super Bowl by then) map in 2014 of the
NJT connections was also based on the Vignelli design. (it shows the
PATH and NJT trains, and only incidentally any subways.) Ah, the good
old days of the double-letter designations that sort of indicated the
origins and termini of all the special rush hour service and such.

A couple of Chicago's color lines fork, so you have to do that.
