   Never at the times I've gone to Boston or Washington ("reserved" coach   
   seats doesn't mean you're assigned a seat like on an airplane, only that   
   they don't sell more tickets than they have seats). Maybe you're thinking   
   of commuter trains that use the same tracks. When I came back from DC in   
   October there were people who stayed the whole time in the snack bar car's   
   table seating area. I can't say whether they also had seats elsewhere.
