   Not quite.  The original contingent (not "new troops") were a combination   
   of MTA police (remember that the subway and buses are part of the MTA..)   
   and a small number of State Police.  The latter were stationed   
   at the bridges to give more Cuomovisibility.   
      
   (It's possible some went to the subway, but I hadn't heard of any).   
      
   The proposed group of 650 or so (remember that it's 500 officers   
   and then plus supervisors and support...) would be additional   
   bodies added to the MTA, which would be rotated into the subways   
   and buses.   
      
   Oh, and at $100 million/year   
      
   (Not all the "new" folk would be in the transit system, but this   
   would allow him to send more into it).
