From: dannyb@panix.com              [Baltimore news]              MTA (Baltimore, not NYC) conducting security review after light rail car       theft, crash in Linthicum              Maryland Transit Administration Police are investigating how a 21-year-old       was able to take control of a light rail car and ultimately crash it into       another locomotive.              Police arrested and charged 21-year-old Aidan Francis McDonnell with       trespassing, theft and reckless endangerment offenses after they say he       took control of the MTA train on Nov. 3. McDonnell, a Severna Park       resident, told officers that he drove the train out of the light rail shop       located at Cromwell Station in Glen Burnie using a manual from the       internet to get the 44-ton locomotive operational, according to charging       papers.              Footage from the incident shows that McDonnell entered the train at about       3:30 p.m. and drove it out of the light rail shop a short distance before       returning and switching to another track at about 4:15 p.m. He maneuvered       the train out of the rail yard, traveling northbound for about three miles       on a track being used by a southbound train, charging papers say.        ======       rest:       https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/crime/ac-cn-light-rail-station       locomotive-theft-20221108-ztzpjb7hjrg4pazovp473f76ye-story.html              _____________________________________________________       Knowledge may be power, but communications is the key        dannyb@panix.com       [to foil spammers, my address has been double rot-13 encoded]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
