|    US Military's Excessively -Aggressive Ta    |

XPost: can.politics, ont.politics, tor.general              The US Military's Over-Aggressive tactics have come under fire for       not winning the hearts and minds of the occupied people of Iraq .              Andrew Garfield, a senior fellow of the Foreign Policy Research       Institute in Philadelphia and former British Intelligence Officer       travelled throughout Iraq to gather the views of more than 100 British       officers and other officials about American tactics in the military.              The perception was that the US military continues to use excessive       force in Iraq and because of it is creating new enemies and not       friends.              Garfield recently published a paper called : British Perspectives on       the US Effort to Stabilise and Reconstruct Iraq. If anyone can find it       please post it. I think the Bushies have eaten it up. All I could       find was this article:                     http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-2372122,00.html              Excerpt from the above article:              " Many British interviewees complained that the vast majority of the       American military personnel . . . viewed their job as to kill the       enemies of the United States. They believed peacekeeping was for       wimps, prided themselves on their aggression and openly expressed the       desire . . . to destroy the enemy."       ----------------------------------------              The Bush Military tactics are the same in Afghanistan as in Iraq.       It's no wonder the NATO countries are holding back at fighting with       Americans, or where Americans have left off.              They're afraid they'll be tarred with the same brush.              Penny              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
