   They are there mostly to protect the resort corporations from lawsuits.   
   When you buy that lift ticket read the fine print - you're assuming   
   responsibility for all risk and harm that comes to you.  The only way the   
   corporation can be held responsible is by proving gross negligence.  One way   
   to do that would be failing to mark the boundaries of dangerous areas.
