So I expect that the next time (and every time) that a firefighter or
cop dies (in a car accident when they're off duty, dies from cancer, a
heart attack, falling off the roof while cleaning the gutter) then we
can expect several days of news coverage of their death and funeral, and
we can expect thousands of other firefighters and cops will come from
thousands of miles away to attend their funeral.

After all, it doesn't matter how they died or what they were doing now
   does it?
