Say you wanted to buy a $1000 item in Canada. $1000+15% = $1150.

Shop in the USA and get it for say $800+15% = $920.

HST, the more it gets it amplifies the savings to shop for the best
price, and US invariably beats Canada. Really gets huge if you are
talking automobilies. Say an F150, US is $25k and in Caanda is $35k...
the difference is $1500 on top of the $10k price savings to shop USA.

If you lived in Oshawa or Windsor, you can get them cheaper miles away
in Detroit for less than Canada, HST savings add up.
