   The problem is that they will give the guy $0.05 that comes from a fund   
   to which no contribution was made when the beer was purchased.   
      
   If you ask, they would be forced to say "no". Since from the legal point   
   of view, they can't give you back a deposit you didn't make.   
      
   In practical terms, if you have your beer bottles in a box, and you only   
   have a couple of bottles which are "illegitimate" in the middle, they   
   won't really notice and take your word. But you are still stealing $0.05   
   for each such bottle.
