   Well my original comment was tongue-in-cheek silliness but for a serious   
   note here I'll say Canada has actually done a good job this decade of   
   slowing the growth of government versus other wealthy nations. Many   
   provinces actually had hiring freezes before the recession and Harper only   
   started hiring new federal hires when baby boomers started retiring early   
   out of the civil service.   
      
   It seems the rest of the G8/G20 nations have surged past us in hiring new   
   civil servants and program spending.   
      
   Mind you Canada's government is still growing and that's a real concern...
