Just a little bit of what he and his Cons are proposing:
   _________________________________

The proposed legislation amends the Canadian Security Intelligence Service Act,
as well as the Strengthening Canadian Citizenship Act and makes a consequential
amendment to the Access to Information Act.

Bill C-44, as CBC News reported earlier, amends the Canadian Security
   Intelligence Service Act to:

   1. - Give "greater protection" to confidential sources without having to
identify them in court proceedings, even to the judge. <<====

   2. - Give CSIS more powers of surveillance and detention "to more effectively
investigate threats to the security of Canada."

   3. - Give Canada's spy agency explicit authority to operate "within or outside
Canada." This would allow the agency to share information on suspected Canadian
terrorists abroad with members of the so-called "Five Eyes" group of countries
â€” namely the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand.
   __________________________

   Taking a look at just these 3 'changes' . . . .

   1. Would allow CSIS to prosecute anyone who has been 'ratted out' as a
terrorist or potential terrorist - 'on the word of an undisclosed source'.
Even the judge trying the case would not know who that 'rat' was.

Think about that. The 'rat' could be a spouse seeking vengeance against a
person. It could be a Jew wanting a particular muslim leader taken out of
circulation in Canada. It could be another CSIS agent or RCMP officer, willing
to oblige as the rat and expedite taking a person they want taken off the
streets and put behind bars for a very, very long time.

That's the scope of point number one. Think about the potential for abuse of
civil rights and constitutional rights for freedom of religion, thought,
belief, opinion and expression, as well as freedom of association. Lots of our
freedoms are gone just under the first proposal.

   2. Nice, obtuse wording, eh? WHAT would those "more powers" be? Gathering
information from obvious opponents of certain groups and cultures? Bugging
their phones and homes? Using video surveillance at their place of work?
Requisitioning their medical records and their bank records?

We already know that the Harper government has called ENVIRONMENTALISTS and
some UNION MEMBERS terrorists. We know that they've called protesting students
   terrorists.
Would all these groups become targets for CSIS as "threats to the security of
   Canada"?

   3. Here's Harper and his Cons trying to do to many more Canadians what they
did to Omar Khadr: collaborate with another country to provide damning
information that would allow any of the collaborating countries to do with a
citizen of the other country - as they wish. Bye-bye Canadian rights and
protections. The 'Five Eyes' countries were the ones involved int the illegal
invasion of Iraq and the killing of millions of their people. Now they want us
to join forces with them to exercise such illegal acts as a 'group activity'?

The two military members that just died at the hands of wannabe jihadists in
Canada died because of Harper's involvement militarily in Iraq.
   Full stop.

The only thing that Canada needs is this: NOT expanded 'terrorism laws', but
to remove the government that has enjoined Canada in a war on Iraq.
Pull Canadian troops the hell out of that assault on a country that was in NO
WAY threatening us, and you will put a stop to any killings by jihadist
   sympathizers in this country.
No 'extended CSIS powers' necessary. Our freedoms somewhat intact.

   Think about it.
