XPost: can.politics, mtl.general, bc.politics       From: puela@nyet.ca              The Canadian Press - January 3, 2015              FTQ planning strategic vote to kick out Harper in upcoming election                     The Fédération des travailleurs du Québec (FTQ) intends to do everything it       can       to break Stephen Harper’s party’s chance of winning the upcoming federal       election in October.              In an interview with La Presse, union president Daniel Boyer said the FTQ wants       to “get rid” of the conservative government. He said the FTQ has been in       talks       with other union groups across Canada to stimulate a strategic vote in the next       elections.              Boyer also said the group has targeted eight regions in Quebec where it intends       to support “any candidate capable of beating a conservative.”              The FTQ expects to leave behind its former ally, the Bloc Québécois, to       support       Thomas Mulcair’s NDP — perceived to be a defender of unionized workers.              In recent months, unions have taken a strong stance against the Harper       government’s plans to adopt a law that would make the union accreditation       process more difficult for businesses operating under federal jurisdiction.              ==================================================================               It is horrifying that we have to fight our own government to save the       environment               ~ Ansel Adams       ==================================================================              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
