|    Canada-China Trade Relations    |
|    11 Jan 15 08:42:59    |
Here's a bit of food for thought for all Canadians.              Canadian federal and provincial governments have and are making considerable       efforts to increase trade with China. In China, most marijuana infractions       carry the death penalty. Every year on the UN Anti-Drug Day between 20 and 30       people in China, who        have marijuana convictions, are executed.               If Canada was to legalize marijuana from Coast to Coast, it's possible that       China would feel offended and say that they were not going to help Canadians       recycle drug money by buying Canadian products. There are alternate suppliers       for what Canada sells        China.              Take wheat as an example. Once the Canadian parries were the bread basket of       the world. Then Brazil came online as a wheat producer. Canada lost many of       its markets for wheat to Brazil. A consequence was that prairie farmers had to       switch to: Canola,        Rape, Sun Flower, etc. With the dwindling importance of wheat, the federal       government dismantled the Wheat Marketing Board. WMB shipments were       responsible for 95% of traffic through the Port of Churchill Manitoba.              With the demise of the WMB, American grain buyers became more active in the       Canadian market. In order to keep peace with US unions, the grain buyers       agreed to ship through the Port of Duluth Minnesota rather than Churchill. As       a result, the latter is        dying.              JL - 01-11-2015              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
