Since September 2014 the monthly job creation reports in the US have all been       over 175,000 per month with the majority of new jobs being created in the       private sector. In fact, US unemployment has dropped from 12% in 2009 to 5.8 %       in Jan 2015.              On September 07, 2014, the Guardian newspaper in the UK reported that Apple       had $164.5 billion of "cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities" on       its balance sheet. Last week ABC's Business Report stated that year-end sales       and the introduction        of Apple 6 had boosted cash being reported by Apple to $490 billion.               Obviously Apple has converted most of its inventories into cash during annual       holiday sales. Think of the stimulus effect when Apple starts to rebuild       inventories.              Apple's cash holdings are one half of the accelerated stimulus spending of one       trillion dollars that China plans to do in 2015. Nobody thinks of the stimulus       effect that American business has, but in a large part, that's what is       responsible for the drop        in unemployment in the US.              In Canada, many people look for the federal and provincial governments to       stimulate the economy through infrastructure projects. Very little is said       about business. Perhaps it's time for Canadians to focus a little more on the       private sector as a source        of new jobs. The whole of Canada would profit from a positive attitude       towards industry and commerce.               JL 29-01-2015              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
