   You mean the 'temporary foreign workers' - both in low-paying service industry   
   jobs *and* in the oil fields themselves.   
   Like any rightwing government, Alberta opened up its most valuable (for the   
   time) natural resources for the taking by foreign companies.   
      
   And Harper helped from Ottawa by giving those foreign companies 'start up'   
   funding and tax breaks for 'research and development'.   
   No bloody wonder there was a frenzy in Alberta's tarsands.   
      
   But no bloody wonder, too, that the Alberta Cons dipped into the   
   proceeds/royalties they received and used them for 'making life easy' for   
   average Albertans.   
   How many times did the rest of Canada get the finger from Alberta for being the   
   'highest paid' . . .  the lowest taxed . . .  the highest employment rate . . .   
     etc?   
      
   Now we have Mayor Nenshi and other Albertan leaders turning to Ottawa for a   
   helping hand.   
   My reaction:  'Bugger off!'   You had the opportunity - just like Norway - to   
   make your province richer than any other in the country.  Twice you had that   
   chance.   
   But you lived fat, you lived arrogant, you lived using cheap imported labour .   
   . . . you have NO right to be asking other Canadians to help you out through   
   Ottawa.
